Frequently asked questions
Honest answers to the questions people ask most about Vedic astrology, readings and remedies. Still curious? Send your question on the contact page.
What is the difference between Vedic and Western astrology?
Western astrology is based on the solar calendar and the seasons (Tropical zodiac), focusing heavily on psychology and personality. Vedic astrology (Jyotish) is based on the exact positions of the constellations (Sidereal zodiac) and is generally more focused on predictive outcomes, karma, and major life events.
How accurate are daily or monthly horoscopes?
General daily horoscopes are typically based solely on your Moon sign, while monthly horoscopes are based on your Sun sign. Both offer broad themes for the collective. For highly accurate and specific predictions, you need a personalized reading based on your complete natal chart (which uses your exact time, date, and place of birth).
What information do I need for a birth chart reading?
To generate an accurate birth chart, I need your date of birth, the exact time of birth (down to the minute, if possible), and the city and country where you were born. Please send these when you book, along with your questions, so your chart is ready before our Zoom or WhatsApp call.
What if I don’t know my exact time of birth?
If you only know a rough window of time, it is still possible to read your chart using your Moon sign. Alternatively, we can perform a “Chart Rectification.” This is an advanced process where I ask you about the timing of major life events to calculate and narrow down your closest exact birth time.
What is a “Rising Sign” or Ascendant?
Your Rising sign (Lagna, or Ascendant) is the zodiac constellation that was rising on the eastern horizon at the exact moment you were born. It represents your outward personality, your physical appearance, and how the world initially perceives you. In Vedic astrology, the Lagna also sets the twelve houses, so an accurate birth time matters.
Can astrology predict exactly what will happen in my future?
Astrology does not predict a fixed, unavoidable fate. Instead, it highlights the energies, opportunities, and challenges present in your life. Think of it as a weather forecast—it can tell you it will rain, but whether you carry an umbrella is ultimately up to your free will.
Are my personal data and consultation private?
Absolutely. At Analysis of Karma, I follow strict privacy and confidentiality rules to protect your personal details. All consultations are 100% confidential and are never shared or discussed with anyone else. Your birth details stay between us, and I never publish client stories or testimonials, however kind they may be.
What is Mercury Retrograde?
It is an optical illusion where the planet Mercury appears to move backward in the sky from our vantage point on Earth. In astrology, it is associated with miscommunications, technology glitches, and travel delays. It is a time better suited for reviewing, reflecting, and completing old tasks rather than starting brand-new projects.
What are astrological remedies? Do I have to do them?
Remedies are suggested actions used to mitigate challenging planetary placements. They can include lifestyle changes (karma), wearing specific gemstones, chanting mantras, or performing acts of charity. They are entirely optional and act as spiritual tools to help balance your energy, not mandatory requirements.
Can astrology help me choose a career path?
Yes! By looking at the 10th House (career), the 5th House (creativity and education), the 6th House (daily work and overcoming obstacles), and the placements of planets like Saturn and Mercury, astrology can reveal your natural talents, ideal work environments, and potential paths to financial success.
What is a Saturn Return?
A Saturn Return occurs roughly every 27 to 29.5 years when the planet Saturn returns to the exact sign and degree it was in when you were born. It is a major astrological coming-of-age period associated with intense growth, maturity, and the restructuring of your life.
Do you offer refunds if I am not satisfied with a live reading?
New clients pay only if satisfied, so there is nothing to refund. Consultations are $100 CAD per hour over Zoom or WhatsApp, and you pay after the reading. If you did not find value, you do not pay. If it helped you, you pay for it, so you do not carry a karma debt.
How does astrology determine relationship compatibility?
Astrologers use a technique called “Synastry,” which involves overlaying two people’s birth charts to see how their planets interact. This highlights areas of harmony, potential friction, communication styles, and the long-term viability of the partnership. In Vedic astrology, I also use Kundli Milan (Guna Milan) and check both charts for Mangal Dosha.
What is a Moon sign and why does it matter?
While your Sun sign represents your core identity and ego, your Moon sign dictates your emotional inner world. It governs your subconscious reactions, your instincts, and what you need to feel safe, nurtured, and secure. In Vedic astrology, your Moon sign (Rashi) is central: your dasha periods are counted from the Moon’s birth nakshatra.
How often should I get my birth chart read?
A foundational, in-depth birth chart reading usually only needs to be done once. However, checking in for a “Transit” or “Year Ahead” reading is a highly popular service to book once a year, usually around your birthday or the New Year, to see what energies are currently affecting your chart.
Can astrology predict health issues?
Medical astrology can point out physical sensitivities or periods of low vitality based on planetary alignments. However, I am not a medical professional. Astrology should never replace professional medical diagnosis, advice, or treatment. A reading can highlight areas to look after and times to take extra care, so you can discuss concerns with your doctor.
